Nelson Life provide advice to investors considering buying property with their pension.You can either invest into a larger commercial property fund or choose a bespoke property of your choice (there are strict Revenue rules with this option).All income and gains within pension schemes are exempt from income tax and capital gains tax.This means that rental income is not subject to income tax nor will Capital Gains Tax be payable on the sale of the property.

  1. You can choose the property you wish to purchase - residential and/or commercial property.

  2. Income tax relief on employee and employer contributions remains at the higher rate of tax.

  3. On retirement, you can take percentage of the value of the pension fund as a lump sum if sole , of which €200,000 is tax free - dependent upon employment status and structure.

  4. You have control and can mix property investment with EFT, Alternatives and Equity investment.

  5. Rental income and gains within pension schemes are exempt from income tax and capital gains tax
